Extensions that show XML responses typically end with “XML,Wide”, “XML,Full”, or “XML,Text”. “XML,Wide” The “XML,Wide” version keeps the normal page navigation and embeds the XML as text in the body of the page. This is helpful for a quick view when the XML is small but not ideal for a large XML page. “XML,Full” “XML,Full” will return XML intended for direct consumption by a program. If it is from an HTTP request, the response Content Type will be “text/xml”. “XML,Text” “XML,Text” is identical to “XML,Full” with the exception that the HTTP response Content Type will be “text/plain”. The difference between the two is for the view in a browser. Most browsers will parse the “XML,Full” version to color code the XML and giving the user tools to collapse elements. The “XML,Text” will display as ordinary text which allows for easy copying all or part to the clipboard. |
