John Kozlowski files for US House of Representatives
in North Carolina’s 12th District

John Kozlowski is planning to file with the State Board Of Elections today at 4:30pm, for North Carolina’s 12th District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. This will prove to be a campaign of clear choices, as the values demonstrated by the incumbent, Mel Watt, are vastly different that those of John Kozlowski.

John Kozlowski has publicly stated that "I hear clearly from people with whom I talk that the voting population is looking for a leader, not a polltaker. They will embrace a candidate who will stand on his convictions and reject a candidate who will bend with the latest polls." To prove that, John Kozlowski has published his stands on major issues. Furthermore, John Kozlowski has made some absolute commitments, something that is virtually unheard of in the world of politics today. His stands and commitments are listed below.

Additional information will be continually available on the Internet at www.Kozlowski.org. Kozlowski For Congress can be contacted at 336.787.3635.

John Kozlowski Takes a Stand

Pro-Life in word and deed

The government’s fundamental role is to protect its citizens. I stand against the willful taking of another human life, including those yet to be born, or those well-seasoned in life. I will vote with those who want to outlaw Partial Birth Abortion. I will also propose legislation that will require those who market abortion drugs and apparatus to label them as such, not simply as birth control. The Supreme Court has allowed abortion on demand, but we are not required to abort our own children, nor should we allow deception.

Pro-Family. It takes a family, not a village.

The backbone and strength of America is the family. In all areas of life, the family unit is superior to anything the government or any institution can do. In tax policy, the welfare system, and many other ways, our government has become the enemy of the family. The government must remove itself from all social manipulation. The Lord entrusted children to parents. The government can do no better.

Pro-Lady. I will stand with those who bake cookies, rather than trying to impose socialism.

The feminist objective of having 50% women representation in all walks of life ignores the fact that a great many women have no desire to occupy boardrooms, locker rooms, or the battlefield. To achieve their objectives, the feminists must destroy the stay-at-home mom. For those women who are stay-at-home moms, and for those who desire or respect that lifestyle, their representative will inherently be a man. I am that kind of man.

Pro-Laborer. For the labourer is worthy of his hire (Luke 10:7)

America runs on the sweat of those who labor. Those who work to provide for their families and themselves should be the first to benefit from their efforts. Our tax system penalizes those who work. We must remember that a fundamental reason we declared independence from England in 1776 was for a substantially smaller tax burden than we experience today.

I would support a flat tax as an improvement over what we have. Taxing higher incomes at a higher rate does not prevent the rich from being rich. It does limit the ability of a hard worker to climb the economic ladder.

An even better solution is to repeal the 16th amendment and abolish federal income taxes. With substantially less money going to the federal government, the government will be inherently smaller.

Pro-Self Defense. Gun control means only our adversaries will have guns.

The Declaration of Independence states the people "are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights." The Constitution does not grant us the right to bear arms, it only insures that our God-given right is not infringed upon. Regulating gun ownership is punishing the innocent, instead of the guilty. We should be free to use weapons for recreation and self-defense, but there must be severe consequences, including restitution, for those who use weapons in committing a crime.

I would vote for the bill that allows a state-issued concealed weapon permit to be valid in all states, just like your driver’s license.

Pro-National Defense. Treaties are honored when there is power to back them up.

We must remember the lessons of history. After the tragedy of World War I, England, tired of war, did not rebuild their military. Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain returned from a meeting with Adolf Hitler, displayed a written document and declared "peace in our time." Shortly thereafter, Hitler’s V1 (buzz-bomb) and V2 rockets were destroying much of London.

We must maintain the strongest military in the world and never give control of any part of it to the United Nations. I would vote for continued research and immediate deployment of the Strategic Defense Initiative.

John Kozlowski
Absolute Commitments

A politician has been described as one who will make any compromise to be elected. A statesman will pay any price to stand by his convictions. I seek to serve in public office with my convictions, not in spite of them.

I hereby pledge to live by the commitments described below. If I fail to do so, I will resign from my position and expect the voters to encourage my removal.

I am aware that such a pledge places me at great risk. I am opening myself up to circumstances where someone will twist a statement or event to demonstrate failure. Nevertheless, I must take this stand.

Most of my commitments are character issues that many have claimed to be irrelevant in the political world. I must wholeheartedly disagree. Character matters. How can anyone be trusted to live up to their public statements when they fail to do so in their private lives?

All of these commitments describe personal practice. All of them are things I would advocate to others. Very little of what I am committed to would I try to impose on others through legislation.

To live my faith I am a Christian. By that, I mean that I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and I try to live by the teachings of the Bible. This does not mean that I am faultless in this area. It does mean that in general, my lifestyle is dictated by my faith.
To love my wife On May 19, 1990, I wed Miss Dorothy-Jane Cross. I loved her enough to commit my life to her and now I am committed to love her for the rest of our lives.
To observe the Lord’s Day If I am to practice my faith, and if I am to love my family, then I must provide the time that is required. The Lord requires a day of rest. How that is viewed varies between denominations. For me, Sunday is a day for corporate worship and family time. It is not a day for business, nor a day for campaigning. Except for worship and family, I will be unavailable on Sunday.
To be debt-free A proverb states "the borrower is servant to the lender." If my campaign borrows money then I may be tempted to compromise in order to raise the funds to pay the debt. To prevent that, I am committed to a debt-free campaign. Kozlowski For Congress will make no expenditure until the funds to pay for it are in hand.

In early 1996, my wife and I committed to no new debt. In less than two years, our debt load dropped by two thirds. We have refused to be servant to any other lender.

By living this commitment, I have a much stronger position to advocate a debt-free government. Our government, and the taxpayers that support it, should never be servant to any lender, foreign or domestic.

To be pro-life I will never vote for any bill that permits, promotes, or funds abortion.
