The AdHoc File is taken from the Latin term "ad hoc" (to this) which is the idea of something for a particular purpose or impromptu. In this case it is a ShofarFile that is generated for one-time use in the Manifest and is not stored. This allows for the return of selected information only rather than complete files or selection of authorized data from sources that may also contain unauthorized data. The AdHoc File is generated on demand in a Manifest, populate with requested information, returned typically as XML, and then discarded. An AdHoc File is typically requested in one of two ways. The "/AdHoc" Service can return data where the command does not require a specific Target. The ".AdHoc" Extension will return data for the specific Target. |
